Learning IAM - With and Without Vendor-Specific Perspective

August 23rd, 2007 by Corbin H. Links

Hello Readers:

Dave Kearns, in his great article entitled Three learning opportunities…..covers some vendor-centric IAM learning opportunities. We have attended one or more of these sessions in the past, and have found them to be invaluable for understanding different vendor perceptions of IAM, how the various components fit together, and how the tools can provide benefit. We heartily recommend reading the best of what the vendors have to offer.

But…what if you really want to learn about IAM — real-world IAM — from people that have worked with most of the “big vendor stuff”? People that can provide unbiased perspective on what works or doesn’t work in given situations? Well…you know the answer. Stay tuned to this space to learn vendor-agnostic, real-world IAM implementation tips and program management strategies. A primary goal of ours has always been to provide IAM information in a way that is digestible, applicable, and usable to all organizations regardless of type, affiliation, or platform. IAM - when viewed from the perspective of a core set of business-centric services, encompasses a great many people, processes, and technologies. It is this body of knowledge that transcends the “tool/vendor flavor of the day.”

On the subject of information, stay tuned to this space for upcoming developments in the IAM World, and Links Business Group LLC as a company. We have had a lot of requests lately to publish our RSS feeds by topic, so that our readers can keep up with only the content they want. So for instance, if you want to tune out of our marketing and company announcements, we have a feed just for Identity Access Management . Can’t get enough IAM during your Program Implementation and want another dose on your way to and from work? Links Business Group has you covered there as well with its podcast series. Want miscellaneous Technical News and Snippets? Strategic IT coverage? Yes, we have you covered there as well. For convenience, here is a listing of all our RSS feeds by topic. Some are not well populated yet, but keep checking.

For those wanting to dive really deep into IAM, stay tuned for up and coming site redesign. Granted, it may be more exciting to us as a company than it is to our readership, but trust me — it will be worth visiting. Our reading room alone will be worth the price of admission (well admission is technically free, so perhaps it’s worth a bit more than that :-) ) Another source for IAM Perspective and analysis (vendor-neutral as always,) is to check out our quarterly newsletter: IAM Success Magazine. You’ll have to give us your valid email address to receive a fresh PDF to your inbox, but we promise not to spam you and only provide worthwhile content. Cancel anytime — or come back anytime you like. The choice is yours.

As always, thanks for reading. Please email us, or call +1 877 769 8938 for more information on IAM in general, or to schedule an initial IAM Program Consultation.

Until next time, all the best, of Identity Management Success.
